WI 4: Complaint to Medicare

Firstly, I want to do this again. You. I mean you, blog. I want to do you again. OK. Now that that's cleared up, 5 minutes starts now....

Fact 1: I went to the doctor and had to pay.
Fact 2: I then got a cheque from medicare refunding me part of the payment - Thank you.
Fact 3: I the got a cheque from medicare which I am to send on to my doctor.

WHAT?!
Can't they just deposit it into his account?
OR... Hmm.... Check out the attached picture of the medicare cheque

So, Medicare sends a cheque to MY address (my details circled in green). And references the cheque in my name and address (again circled in green at bottom). Medicare even has my doctors address and instructs me to send the cheque on to my doctor at that address (red circle).

What doesn't make sense to me is that if they have the address, why not just send it to the doctor directly? It would cost them the same as sending the letter to me. I may understand if they didn't know the address of the doctor, BUT THEY DO!

I've been trying desperately to work out why this silly inefficient process of re-imbursing the doctor. Does Medicare really think every citizen is going to actually post this check on to their doctor???? Only thing I could think of is that it could be an economic booster... 1 50c stamp at a time, 1 50c envelope at a time.... a way to draw more money to be spent in the economy.

I still disagree with it. And this can't be the reason.... Medicare probably just haven't thought it through. So I will write them a complaint.

Not sure what else to do. But, at least I've said my bit... I hope something improves about it.

Ok.... this time you took 10 minutes, blog.
